Honestly, frustration. I’ve spent years building and operating in the MENA tech ecosystem, and I kept seeing the same pattern. Incredible founders were doing meaningful work, raising capital, pivoting, failing, succeeding, yet very little of it was properly captured or structured. The information was scattered. Startup data was incomplete. Important stories were either buried or never told. When I looked for a serious, focused platform that treated the region’s tech scene with the depth and consistency it deserved, I couldn’t find one. At the same time, global tech media dominates the narrative. If you are building in Silicon Valley, your journey is documented in detail. If you are building in Riyadh, Lahore, Doha, or Cairo, coverage is often limited, fragmented, or short lived. That imbalance never felt right to me. There is real innovation happening here. Capital is flowing, exits are happening, ecosystems are maturing, but the infrastructure around visibility and structured intelligence has not kept pace. TechScoop began with a simple question. What would the MENA ecosystem look like if it had its own dedicated intelligence layer. Not just articles, but structured company profiles, investor tracking, job listings, resources, and ecosystem mapping in one place. A platform that does not just report on the ecosystem, but actively strengthens it. This is still day one. We do not claim to have all the answers.
