Convert any shaded tattoo flash, Procreate sketch, or client reference photo into a crisp 300 DPI thermal stencil directly in your browser. Calibrate line sensitivity, smoothing, and needle weight (03RL–09RL) for Spirit paper & thermal printers.
I’m Polash, creator of TattooDesignPro. Today I’m excited to share a free standalone tool we built for tattoo artists and collectors: the 300 DPI Thermal Tattoo Stencil Maker.
The Problem When a client sends a heavily shaded reference photo or a complex Neo-Traditional / Blackwork design, running it straight through a thermal copier (like a Brother PocketJet, Phomemo M08F, or Spirit carbon machine) produces a solid purple smudge. Soft grey wash gradients confuse thermal print heads, forcing artists to spend 20–40 minutes manually re-tracing outlines on an iPad.
🛠️ What We Built We engineered a zero-latency, 100% browser-based stencil vectorizer that strips away mid-tone shading and isolates crisp thermal outlines in milliseconds:
1. Multi-Pass Sobel Edge + Box-Blur Denoising: Strips out camera grain and skin texture before calculating X/Y luminance gradients, so only structural contour edges survive. 2. Needle Weight Calibration (03RL – 09RL): Choose between Fine (03RL), Standard (05RL), Medium (07RL), and Bold (09RL) morphological dilation so your carbon transfer stays visible on skin through multiple green soap wipes. 3. True Binary 300 DPI (pHYs) PNG Export: Standard browser canvas exports default to 72 DPI, which ruins print scaling. Our exporter injects a spec-compliant IEEE 802.3 CRC-32 pHYs chunk (11,811 px/m = 300 DPI) directly into the PNG binary ready for Brother PocketJet, Phomemo, Ozer, and Epson EcoTank stencil printers. 4. 3D AR Skin Try-On Integration: With one click, send your extracted stencil straight into our 3D AR Try-On studio to preview how the linework wraps around a forearm, chest, or bicep before printing. 5. 100% Private (Client-Side): Client custom flash never leaves your device all pixel math runs locally in your browser.
It’s 100% free with no sign-up required, and comes pre-loaded with 4 studio flash presets (Neo-Trad Rose, Irezumi Dragon, Blackwork Skull, and Sacred Mandala) so you can test the calibrator right away: 👉 https://tattoodesignpro.com/tool...

Hey Product Hunt! 👋

The Problem
When a client sends a heavily shaded reference photo or a complex Neo-Traditional / Blackwork design, running it straight through a thermal copier (like a Brother PocketJet, Phomemo M08F, or Spirit carbon machine) produces a solid purple smudge. Soft grey wash gradients confuse thermal print heads, forcing artists to spend 20–40 minutes manually re-tracing outlines on an iPad.
