Get your kids excited about science! With Tappity, they'll get to interact with Haley, a live-action Ms. Frizzle-like character (from the Magic School Bus), who takes them through series of science experiments, activities, lessons, stories, and more.

Thanks @johnpjoseph for hunting! Hello PH community! This is Chad, one of the founders of Tappity. Growing up, I loved learning about science. My passion continued into college, where I partnered with my Biology professor to develop a science app that taught Evolution. During this time, I discovered that there are actually very few high-quality science apps for kids compared to reading or math. On top of that, I realized interactivity and touch are incredibly effective tools for teaching science. This inspired me to create Tappity, which could be used to teach all the science topics that a young child should know. We’ve since expanded on this idea even more by enlisting the help of an actress. Inspired by Ms. Frizzle and Bill Nye, we’ve created a live-action character, Haley, who accompanies a child as they learn, and provides them with a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment. Finally, with the variable quality and safety issues around YouTube and other apps, we’ve been adamant about designing an experience where parents feel good and comfortable about how their kids are spending their screen time. So far, our feedback has been really positive. Parents are excited because their kids are super engaged and they’re literally having dinner conversations about what their kids are learning. And teachers appreciate that we align with the K-5 Next Generation Science Standards, so they can use it in the classroom! Let me know if you have any questions. We’re here to answer any and would love your feedback!

@johnpjoseph @chadwick_swenson What's new since your initial launch of Tappity?

Good learning platform for kids.Great idea, great execution

Pros:

Keeps my 7 year old engaged and learning. He's excited to play it

Cons:

My son likes it so much he'll 'sneak' the ipad to play tappity even when he's not supposed to have any screen time

To be honest, I was looking for something that I could let my 7 year old son play on the iPad that would 1. keep him occupied for reasonably long periods of time, and 2. keep him from playing Fortnight. I thought I'd give Tappity a try and I was amazed how quickly he understood how to use the app, and even more remarkably, how he was retaining information that he was learning in Tappity. I can see a sense of pride in him when he finishes a section, and he starts asking me questions about the things he learned (about the molten core of the earth, or ecosystems - there's a wide range of topics) and I was very happy when I received an email notification telling me that the section had been completed, and giving me highlights and questions to ask (with answers). So not only is he learning in a fun and engaging way, he still thinks I'm smart. Great job on the product guys. Keep up the good work and keep cranking out interesting content.

I don't have kids yet but my niece loves science and this seems like such a cool way to engage her in something productive.
