Hi Product Hunt, I am a solo developer, and I built TapCam because my laptop webcam looked terrible next to the phone sitting right beside it on the desk. Most phone-as-webcam tools route your video through a server, or make you create an account first. TapCam does neither. The video goes straight from the phone to the PC over your own Wi-Fi, or through a USB cable if you prefer. Nothing leaves your network, and there is nothing to sign up for. Pairing is just a QR code: the Windows app draws one, you scan it with the phone, and that is the whole setup. No network discovery to fight with. You can link several phones and switch which one feeds the camera with a tap, which is handy when you want a second angle on a desk, a whiteboard or a product demo. Once connected, your phone shows up as a camera named TapCam in Zoom, Teams, Meet, OBS and anything else that lets you pick a camera. You can record the feed to MP4, pause the output when you want privacy, and leave the app running quietly in the system tray. It runs on Windows 10 and 11. The phone app is a free download on the App Store and on Google Play, and TapCam for Windows is free to download and use, with an optional one-time PRO upgrade at $11.99 that unlocks the full experience.
