Hey everyone! 👋
I’m one of the makers behind tap.

What is tap?
tap lets you turn raw data files (CSV, JSONL, Parquet, etc.) into managed, production-ready APIs in seconds. You upload your data, shape it with SQL transformations as needed, and then expose it via documented, secured endpoints.

Who it’s for
- Data teams or analysts who want to make existing datasets consumable by apps or services, without waiting for engineering resources
- Developers building dashboards, internal tools or microservices that rely on datasets
- Anyone needing to share or enrich data (e.g. open data, public records) and wanting to avoid file-based sharing nightmares

Why we built it
tap was conceived while building an application that needed to query data from a public dataset shared as a zip of 18 CSV files totaling 7.17 GB. We realized valuable data is still often distributed as these static files, which makes it painful to integrate and operationalize. We wanted a frictionless way to go directly from “here’s a bunch of files” → “here’s an API you can build on.”

Free to start
tap is free to sign up and use (no credit card required). It includes a generous free tier, and if you hit limits, just reach out.

Looking for design partners
While tap has been stable for months (we use it in production ourselves), we’re looking for feedback from early users:
- Missing use cases or features
- Bugs, edge cases, or documentation gaps

Thanks for checking tap out, excited to see what you all build!
