One thing I'd love to see is a way to scan bag labels with the camera so the bean name, roaster, and roast date auto-populate from there. Would save a few taps and cut down on typos for those longer single-origin names.
Thanks@magnus_belgrave , this is a good one. Roast date is the tricky because its not always somewhere visible on the bag, or in the same location as all the other information, but the rest we can probably match. We'll have a proper go at it.
@magnus_belgrave An additional note, maybe you haven't found this feature yet, is if you search for a bean either by roaster name or bean name then you can choose to "tamp" the bean from that screen, then almost all the fields will be auto populated and its up to you to just fill in a few details like the roast date and your rating, or flavour profile you found while tasting the bean. This is the way I log almost all my beans unless its from a tiny micro roaster with a store we don't currently support.
Logging on mobile is great but I'd love a quick way to scan a bag's barcode or label image to auto-pull the bean name and roaster instead of searching manually every time. Would save a ton of taps for someone logging multiple bags a week.
Thanks @flavius_harris Appreciate this. Barcodes are pretty rare on specialty bags, so reading the label itself is likely the better route. Either way, fewer taps is the goal. We'll see what we can do.
been using it for a few days and honestly the roaster catalog thing is what sold me, like it actually pulls from real shops not just some generic database. logging a bean one-handed while my kettle was going was pretty smooth too.
