Tablelane is a free MySQL desktop client for macOS, Windows, and Linux with a built-in AI assistant. Browse data, manage schemas, and draft SQL with OpenAI-powered help.

It covers a lot of everyday database work:
Data editing: Browse tables, filter and sort results, edit cells, insert or delete rows, and apply edits with Save changes. CSV export is included.
SQL workspace: Query formatting, result grids, error feedback, persistent query history, and a searchable library of reusable SQL snippets.
Schema management: Create and modify tables, columns, indexes, foreign keys, and CHECK constraints, with version-aware MySQL compatibility checks and live CREATE/ALTER previews.
Connection options: Connect directly, through SSH, or through an AWS SSM bastion to private RDS MySQL and Aurora MySQL databases. The SSM connection doesn’t require the AWS CLI or Session Manager plugin.
Credential storage: Saved passwords and credentials use the operating system’s credential store.
The optional OpenAI integration is particularly interesting. It can inspect database schema, answer questions, and draft SQL that you review in the editor before running. Row samples are disabled by default and can be enabled explicitly.
I also like the BYOM—Bring Your Own Model—approach: you supply your own OpenAI API key and select a supported model. Usage is billed through your OpenAI account, without buying AI credits or an AI subscription from Tablelane.
The makers aren’t selling anything. They’re sharing the app and looking for feedback from people who work with MySQL.
