Hey folks! 👋 I built SwipeFeed because I was trapped in the social media doom scroll cycle - spending hours on Instagram Reels and TikTok just trying to stay informed about the world. After quitting social media cold turkey, I realized I still needed a way to consume news quickly without sacrificing my mental space or discipline. I wanted the dopamine hit of short-form content but directed toward something actually valuable - staying informed about world events, not watching random dance videos. As someone who enjoys building solutions, I decided to address my own problem first. What's unique about SwipeFeed compared to alternatives is that it's specifically designed to prevent addiction while still delivering that satisfying swipe experience. Unlike traditional news apps that can overwhelm you with endless articles, or social media that manipulates you into endless scrolling, SwipeFeed gives you a curated daily feed that actually resets every 24 hours. It's anti-doomscroll - you get your news fix, stay informed, and then you're done. No infinite feed, no algorithmic rabbit holes, just quality news content from verified sources in a format that respects your time. The app features animated "Breaking News" displays and other dynamic elements that make it feel alive and engaging without being manipulative. What I'm most proud of is that I genuinely love using my own app - it solved my exact problem. After a year of development, countless bugs, and multiple App Store rejections, I've created something that gives me that short-form content satisfaction while actually serving my interests. It's proof that you can have convenience and engagement without the addiction mechanics that plague other platforms. The most rewarding aspect is knowing that others struggling with the same social media addiction issues can now have a healthier alternative for staying informed.
