I've been working on Swarm since March exclusively with OpenAI's models and I always use their latest releases for the core of development. Swarm allows for the creation of Spaces where agents/humans can collaborate and store persisted data/memory in Decision Graphs. Swarm is model agnostic and supports both local runtimes and cloud hosted agents. You can also connected cross Space agents giving Swarm a network and essentially providing an intelligence substrate for agents.

What became possible in your product with Astra that was not practical before?

Astra really improved on UI design as well as running evaluations on the code and overall product to see how the code can be improved, optimized and refactored. Additionally, I used GPT-6 Astra to actually use Swarm as an agent in various expected workflows and to gather feedback on architectural improvements that would make the platform better for the agent to use and then took this to integrate improvements. I did this with 5.6 Sol as well but Astra was definitely a step above in providing more intelligent and intuitive feedback.

In March Karpathy first posted about Autoresearch and that got me thinking about how could teams/companies collaborate remotely with their agents on work, research, data sharing, etc. So I built an initial prototype with basic functionality and presented it at Shopify Build. Over time I continued adding primitives that would expand Swarm from just persisting agent memory and context to allowing agents to use building blocks for learning loops, human gated approvals, traces, cloud hosted models and a lot of other expected features. The goal is to have Swarm function as an almost internet like layer for agent/human collaboration across the world where it runs in the background and removes having to worry about markdown files, and all the other memory related pain points. I'm really open to feedback, critiques and overall input on what people would want out of a product like this. Thanks!
