Hey all, for the past couple days my partner and I have been working on launching this directory of local businesses. We were inspired by all the crowd-sourced spreadsheets we found available that listed restaurants still open for business, and sourced our own content from GoFundMe, Giftly, etc to fill in the rest of the information. While doing the research for the content we came across numerous stories of resilience and altruism — from restaurants that are donating meals to healthcare workers on the front line to shops that have pivoted their business models to adapt to a virtual audience. Such stories are highlighted on our site with the Giving Back or New Offering tag. We started sourcing the Bay Area because that's what we're familiar with, but our intention with the site is to expand it to any community that's interested in a directory like this. We need champions to help curate content for us to add to the list — we can easily spin up another neighborhood or city to add to the site once we have the information.
