SunPath lets you see exactly where the sun will be at any location before you arrive. Plan golden hour shoots, evaluate property light, design gardens, or position solar panels with confidence. Free features include an interactive map, sunrise and sunset direction, daylight duration, monthly overview, and civil dawn/dusk times. Pro unlocks any date selection, live sun position (altitude & azimuth), blue/golden hour, and satellite maps.
Hi everyone, I’m the maker of SunPath.
I originally built this app because I kept arriving at locations thinking the light would be perfect — and it wasn’t. The sun was behind buildings, shadows were too long, or golden hour was already gone.
Most sun apps I tried felt either too technical or too locked down behind a paywall. I wanted something simple: open the map, understand the light immediately, and plan with confidence.
For a long time, Sunpath was fully paid. It averaged a couple of downloads per day, but very few actual purchases. That made me rethink the model.
I recently rebuilt the app and moved to a freemium structure. The core planning tools are now free, and the advanced features (like precise sun angles and any-date planning) are behind an optional upgrade.
It’s still a small independent project, but it’s built around one goal: remove guesswork from light planning.
Happy to answer any questions or hear your feedback.

@serge_benati Love how SunPath makes sun positioning instantly understandable — the core promise of removing guesswork is clear.
One small thing I noticed: the freemium model is smart, but first-time users might not immediately see which features are free vs. pro. A subtle visual cue highlighting “what’s immediately available” could make the value click faster.
There are a few other small clarity tweaks around onboarding and feature discovery that could significantly improve first impressions — happy to share a short structured breakdown if useful.
