Sunrise times assume a flat horizon. In a valley, a gorge or between tall buildings they can be hours off. Sunreach traces the real skyline around any spot and tells you the minute direct sun arrives and leaves, any day of the year. See it in 3D at eye level or in AR where you stand, find the days the sun lines up with a street or a peak, and check whether tonight's aurora clears your mountains. iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Jaka, and Sunreach started at a river in Slovenia.
On 18 October the sun rises at 07:27 in Bovec. But down in the Velika korita gorge of the Soča, direct sun first touches the water at 10:27 and leaves it at 14:59. Every sun app I tried said 07:27, because they all assume a flat horizon. So I built one that reads the gorge walls.
How it works: Sunreach loads the terrain around your spot (40 m everywhere, 2–5 m laser-scan lidar in Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Poland, Czechia, four German states, most of the USA and more), traces the real skyline from where you stand and runs the sun and moon along it. It's all computed on your phone.
What you can do with it:
☀️ Sun on the spot: the minute direct sun arrives and leaves, golden and blue hour for that spot, twelve months of light in one chart
🏔️ 3D at eye level with shadows that move with the minute, lenses from 16 to 400 mm, a drone view, or the sun path over your camera in AR
🌌 Aurora: NOAA's live oval on a night globe, and the Kp your spot needs with the mountains toward the pole counted
🎯 Alignment search: Manhattanhenge, the winter mornings the sun sits behind the Eiffel Tower from Trocadéro, the moon in a notch on a ridge
📄 A light report for the day, light alerts, widgets, an Apple Watch app and offline maps
Free to download, and planning today and tomorrow is free, aurora included. Pro (€24.99 a year with a free week, or €3.99 a month) plans any date and adds alignment search, the light report, offline maps and the Watch.
I'd love your feedback: which spot should I test next, and what's the one light question your current app can't answer?
