Hey, fellow Hunters and Makers! I'm Ted, and today I'm excited to launch StudyWise - the ultimate AI tutor. For thousands of years, people have gained knowledge either by reading or learning from others. Having a friend or mentor to teach you is much more efficient, but people have limitations too - there's only so much time in the day, after all. What if we could do better? What if your tutor was world-class, always available, and completely in tune with your quest for knowledge? StudyWise is the answer. πŸ’‘ Learn faster through conversation: transform study sessions into interactive dialogues. πŸ—ΊοΈ Guided exploration: dive deeper or branch out with smart recommendations. πŸ† Interactive quizzing: reinforce and internalize knowledge with timely quizzes. πŸš€ Import your study materials from Wikipedia or your own PDFs. 🌎 Learn anytime, anywhere: StudyWise is your 24/7 AI study partner. Today is only the beginning - we're on track to becoming the world's premier learning platform, and we'd love to have you along!

πŸ’‘ Bright idea
Just tried it and I love the concept! My question is - as AI is known to sometimes hallucinate (generate incorrect data), and can't be entirely trusted, do you have a way to verify that the answers students get are indeed correct information? P.S. Congratulations on the launch, Ted! It does indeed seem like only the beginning πŸ™Œ
Ted Schaefer
@eltairovy Thanks Elena, great feedback! Yes, we're trying to solve this: if existing study materials are uploaded or imported from a URL, those details will be used in StudyWise's responses; we haven't found an instance where the model hallucinates in this case. However, it is possible to ask StudyWise about any topic without using a reference, and in that case we do show a familiar disclaimer.
Elena Tairova
@sixbangs Thanks for the answer! So essentially, you prioritize uploaded studying materials as a trusted source and reference it, did I get it right? πŸ€” And, when a clear source isn't available, StudyWise will show a disclaimer. - This sounds like a reasonable, safe option to get started.
Ted Schaefer
@eltairovy Right, exactly! In fact, StudyWise is not allowed to speak from any outside knowledge if study materials are used. We do plan to improve in this area - perhaps use another model to double-check StudyWise's thinking. But this was the compromise we went with to get started, as you said πŸ˜„

I love the feature where StudyWise suggests questions on its own. As a new learner, I don't always know what to ask about a new topic. πŸ€” The app itself feels smooth, and I feel less distracted compared to other learning apps. Love it, and good luck, Ted!
Ted Schaefer
@zer0tokens Thanks for the feedback, Ignas! We kind of stumbled upon suggestions being such a useful feature when we were building quizzes. I find that I get stuck when talking to AI assistants because I run out of creativity - having StudyWise lead the conversation helps to keep the momentum going.

The icon is soooo cute! Congrats on the launch!

Congratulations on the launch! πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ I tried the app, and it looks nice. I loved the dark theme! The occasional questions from the bot and the question suggestions definitely make the experience more interactive. The only concern is a bit about "StudyWise can make mistakes". Do you have any statistics on how often and for which fields of studies it happens more frequently?
Ted Schaefer
@michaelshver Hey Michael, thanks for trying it out! I'm also a dark theme guy πŸ˜„ To be honest, I've used StudyWise a LOT - trying to dogfood it as much as I can - and I haven't noticed any obvious mistakes. It's more of a disclaimer because we know it is possible. However, we do have one mitigation for now, and you can read about it here: https://www.producthunt.com/post...

I do need such a study tool to help me make my study journey fun and effective.
Ted Schaefer
@joannarome1119 Thanks Joanna! I think we all do - learning is what makes life interesting πŸ§πŸ˜„

Super cool product! Especially like the Quiz functionality, makes it more than just the standard GPT wrapper and actually solves a real need for your audience. Excited to use this more!
