Very niche but i can see the potential of being useful to many of the musicians, why limit it to guitar?
@kisekiya Guitar and basses are the focus to keep StringShare's marketplace niche for specific users. Guitars do need some unique handling/care/user and by limiting our marketplace to only guitars, we hope it will promote good actors within that will facilitate the growth of our platform.
This is also the specific market gap we've discovered. Renting a guitar (short term use) in the USA is almost entirely limited to Guitar Center. Guitar Center does not clearly show rental rates or available instruments. The amount of rarely used guitars is also very high. Many owners have multiple or rarely use the one they do own. We're looking to utilize this stagnant resource to help both the owners and renters.
We have though about expanding into more options beyond guitar but currently strongly focused in building around guitars. Our next feature will be to have an option to purchase during the rental which will allow players to test the specific used guitar they would be buying rather than buying blindly from reverb/ebay.
StringShare allows local guitar players to try specific model guitars before committing to substantial purchase price. Having actual hands on practice time with your desired model is critical to properly evaluating if it a great fit for you.
