Hi Product Hunt, I'm Steven Blackburn, founder of Street Eats Official. I'm a disabled US Navy veteran, and I built this from Conroe, Texas (the Houston area). What inspired it: I love food trucks, but finding them live or booking one for a real event meant a dozen texts, unanswered voicemails and no way to know the date was actually held. The problem: customers can't tell who is available or whether their date is safe. Trucks have the opposite problem: pay a booking service for leads, or hope an Instagram DM turns into a booking. How the approach evolved: version 1 was about supply. It put a live map of trucks that are serving right now on your phone, with menus, and we spent that release getting 10 trucks onto the platform, using it operationally every day and testing the system. 2.0.0 is the booking side, built on what that and deeper research taught us. What you can do now: - Send a request with your date, place and headcount - Chat with the truck in the app - Get a quote and pay a deposit to lock the date - Check in on the day, then review the truck - Find trucks that are live right now on the map -Modern day catering should be called "booking food" How the rules work: a request doesn't hold a date. An accepted quote holds it for 24 hours. Paying the deposit books it. If the truck cancels, you get everything back, fees included. For truck owners: no lead fees. Your own customers book you for free, and we take 4.99% only when a quote is accepted. Going live on the map is $120 a month, with the first month free for eligible new trucks. Trucks can go live at eatonthestreets.com/vendors. Who it's for: office managers planning lunches, couples adding a late-night truck, neighbors planning a block party, and owners who want direct bookings.
