StoryLife offers a different approach to storing photos and videos as a couple. The purpose is to encourage people in long-term relationships to start building a timeline of their memories in a fun and intuitive way, because they'll appreciate it one day.
In my relationship, my girlfriend and I always spoke about making a photo album. We've now been together 6 years and still don't have one because of the work it would take to go look through all of our old photos, pick out which ones we want to keep, print them out, etc. Then there's also the upkeep. Every time we want to add a new memory or event, we have to go through the process again.
In fact, we once bought a photo album, and never got around to filling it, and it's now lost somewhere ( this was 3 years ago ). So I had the idea to make this app that makes it very easy for couples to continuously add photos to their timeline that's shared only between them, with a bunch of peripheral features to make the app more engaging, such as favourites, a custom scrapbook builder, and a world map that pins your albums to where they happened.
@hassan_ahmed19 Congratulations on the launch! What's the difference with e.g. photobooks by Google Photos? I've had a bit of a research before on automatic photo album creation and I know that Google uses quite cool AI solution to pick the best photos for you and create a good photobook, that you can order printed - how does your product differ?
@ai_guitarist They serve a different purpose, the app isn't built around auto-generated, one-time photo albums that you print out. It's more of a place to continually store memories for your relationship over time. It simplifies and encourages the process of having organized photos, so that you can easily revisit those events easily in a consolidated place.
So the next question would be how this differs from just making folders on your computer for example, and there's many reasons, but mainly: Can upload and access from any device, anytime, extra features like favourites, the world map view, the StoryBook builder, and advanced search.
So let's say me and my girlfriend went on a day trip to some beautiful location. On the way back, we both easily upload our photos to the app, and they're there forever. We're partners on the app so our timeline is shared, and we build it out together.
Hope that answers your question:)
Congratulations on the launch! That's funny because I was just having a conversation with my friends this weekend about organizing and sorting photos. It was quite painful watching them search for videos from the past that they wanted to share. I used to create scrapbooks myself, similar to your method, choose a few favorites, print them out, cut them into shapes and jot down a few notes. It seems like this app could be a solution!
I'm curious, can the custom scrapbook builder accommodate different themes and styles for each album?
@emily__h Hey Emily, thank you. Believe me, the motivation for this product was very much born out of necessity in my own life, so I feel you on that. As for your question: The way the Scrapbook builder works is that you pick the template for each page, which determines how the pictures are laid out visually. There are currently 10 templates to choose from, some have text, some are image-only. Then, you pick which photo you want in each "slot" until you fill out the page based on the template you chose, then you move on to the next page! This is only the first version of the Storybook Builder, and my plan is to get some user feedback on which features and customizablities they'd like to see in there, and add those too.

Moved by your love story😭
However...I may use it with my best friend😁
This is a lovely way for couples to preserve their memories!
How does StoryLife make it easy to sort and find specific photos or videos, and are there any plans for printed album options in the future?
Congrats on the launch btw!
@kyrylosilin Hey Kyrylo, So the main way that it makes it easy to find a specific photo is through the ability to filter albums, and then view the contents of that album in the gallery view. You can filter by location, album title, date range, and also sort by chronological order.
Once you've found your album, you can view all the photos with the gallery view, and easily find your specific photo.
As for printed albums, that's a long-term plan, but yes, definitely want to allow people to older a printed version of the scrapbook they make, I think that would be a really cool feature
This sounds like such a thoughtful and practical solution, Hassan! Creating an app that simplifies making and maintaining a photo album for couples is brilliant. The additional features like a custom scrapbook builder and a world map to pin memories make it even more engaging.
@hakz Thanks Hakim, happy to be seeing the positive feedback here
