Hi Hunters,
StoryDesk is a project management web app built for newspapers, and it is truly a labor of love.
From my experience at The Tufts Daily as a columnist, Opinion Editor, and eventually Associate Editor, I realized content assignment and tracking functionality, production data, and content planning schedules are rarely centralized. StoryDesk solves that problem.
Originally, I was just building StoryDesk for the Daily, but I realized a lot of other papers would find it useful, too.
Journalism is incredibly important in our society, now more than ever before, so I wanted to build a product which made journalists lives just that much easier. StoryDesk simplifies content planning and assignment, and keeps upper-level editors in the loop (something that often gets lost between the ranks). StoryDesk also calculates how many pages you need for the day, based on custom inputs, and ensures your staff is aware of exactly what's running & when.
Student journalism has been incredibly important in my life, both in high school and in college, so I made sure there's a steeply discounted version of the software for high school papers: Newsroom HS. StoryDesk is perfect for high school papers, college papers, and small-town papers. It's perfect for magazines, and should work alright for some radio teams as well.
I'm happy to answer questions and I look forward to feedback. There's a demo version available ("Demo" button on the home page), if you'd like to take an inside peak at the app. I'm looking forward to rolling your feedback into some initial updates, and continuing to work on strengthening advertisement functionality.
Mobile is a little bit limited compared to desktop right now, but I'm working on that.
I had a lot of support on this project, and I'm grateful for that. Enjoy!
