Story Machine

Thank you for checking out Story Machine! We've been working on the engine for about two years and are excited to finally get it in the hands of creators in private beta. Story Machine is designed to make creation simple and put the power in the hands of the storyteller. Under the hood it packs a full-fledged, hardware-accelerated, cross-platform game engine that can scale up to the needs of professional development teams and deploy games today to PC, Mac, and Android, and coming soon iOS, web, and game consoles. Story Machine speaks the core grammar of 2D narrative game development and is accessible yet deep. Today we have bloated and brittle engines like Unity, which is designed to be a high-end 3D games engine and requires users of it to learn a lot about 3D meshes, math, GPUs, and C#. And we have educational systems like Scratch which are clearly influenced by HyperCard but are designed as educational tools rather than product developer programs. There is nothing in the market today that fills the gap that Flash used to fill–a visual, straight-forward, and powerful interactive app platform. Story Machine aims to fill that gap.
