StepTown is a cozy town-building game (1 step = 1 coin) where players spend step revenue to clear trees, build houses, and raise animals. As a creator who cannot code, this entire application was 100% written by AI, leveraging OpenAI models as my lead software engineer inside Cursor.
OpenAI handled all critical programming tasks to turn my concepts into a live app: Native Health Integration: Writing background scripts to pull step data from Apple Health and Google Health Connect safely with zero battery drain. Game State & Systems: Coding the logic for town progression, local data saves, and inventory resource tracking. OpenAI completely replaced a traditional engineering team, enabling me, a non-technical creator to ship a cross-platform mobile game.

Hey everyone! I'm Freddy, the solo developer of StepTown, which has been a hobby project over the past months. I've played city builder games all of my life, and wanted to create one myself. Also, I'm super lazy getting steps in so I thought why not have a game where my steps gets rewarded. It's simply 1 step = 1 coin, and with those I can build houses, buy chicken/cows and get villagers.
I've been working on StepTown for the last 4 months and soft launched 2 months ago, and l'd like to finally share it with this community! If you're interested in city builders or getting steps in, it'd mean a lot to me if you tried it out! I'd appreciate any kind of feedback, whether you like the game or not.

StepTown is free to play, currently has around 200 monthly active users, yesterday I noticed the first user that paid for a decoration in game! (getting revenue wasn't my goal with this but seeing someone actually use their money to decorate their town made me so happy). Any thoughts you have would mean a lot, thanks!
