Here's the problem I kept seeing: students have basically adopted ChatGPT for coursework — but these tools are built to hand over the answer, not to help you understand it. You get a solution you can't reproduce on an exam. And they sit outside how STEM is actually done: by hand, with equations and diagrams, not typed into a chat box. Stemio flips that. You sketch or snap a problem onto a canvas and work it out by hand. The tutor guides you with Socratic hints as you go — it won't just dump the answer. As you solve, it quietly learns where you struggle and builds a personalized study plan from your own coursework, with explanations and exercises right on the same canvas. I care about this because AI is automating a huge amount of knowledge work — but the world still needs people who deeply understand science and engineering. I want STEM learning to actually build that understanding, faster.
