SteamCue is a free browser quiz that challenges you to identify games from Steam store screenshots. Play solo, compete in rooms for up to 8 players, try beta 1v1 matchmaking, or create Game Shelves—curated lists that double as playable quizzes. I’m also exploring how these shelves could help indie developers introduce their games through play and discovery.

Hi Product Hunt!
I built SteamCue around a familiar moment: recognizing a game from a screenshot before remembering its title.
SteamCue turns that experience into a free browser quiz. You can play solo, compete in rooms for up to eight players, try beta 1v1 matchmaking, and create Game Shelves—curated lists that also work as playable quiz sets.
I also want to explore how Game Shelves could help indie developers introduce their games through playable collections rather than conventional promotion.
I’d especially appreciate feedback on question difficulty, screenshot selection, the Game Shelf experience, and what would make this useful for showcasing indie games.
Thanks for checking it out!
The 8-player rooms were a blast with my friends, and I kept getting stumped on indie titles I had never heard of. The Game Shelves idea is genuinely clever, especially for discovering smaller games in a hands-on way.
Took a round of the solo quiz and was shocked how many indie covers I blanked on. The shelf-as-quiz idea is clever, especially for devs trying to get eyeballs on lesser-known titles.
Honestly the Game Shelves idea is pretty clever, like turning a list of recommendations into something you can actually play through. Played a few rounds solo and the screenshot guessing hits different when you have to commit to an answer fast.
