For the past few months I've been building an iOS app after work.
It's called Starply: a diary where your entries become stars in a night sky, and you can seal a letter to your future self that arrives on the day you chose.
I started it because I wanted to keep both things in one place, the quiet reflection of a daily diary and the strange warmth of hearing from a past version of yourself. Building it has been mostly a lesson in restraint: no streaks, no badges, nothing that scolds you for missing a week.
The app is already quietly live on the App Store, and I'm doing my first real launch here on July 14.
Until then I'm happy just to meet other makers.
If you're also building something small and slow on the side, I'd love to hear about it.
Small delay to July 17 my update's still in App Store review, so I'm moving the launch date. Sorry for the shuffle.
The night sky idea is genuinely lovely and the no streaks approach is refreshing. One thing I'd love to see is a way to write a short note back to a star when it arrives, like a quiet reply to your past self that stays attached to that day.
@vmanalp59205 Thank you Veysel! I see what you mean. Right now a reply becomes a new star and goes to the future again. But I'm planning an archive update, where you can collect your arrived stars and look back on them, like favorites. A quiet note that stays on that day fits really well there. Thanks for the feedback!
