Starage is a new way to discover films: through the lens of age. Search for any actor, and we'll show you exactly what they were filming when they had your age. It's movie discovery that creates unexpected connections between you and the actors you admire. How it works: Enter your birth date → Search for an actor → Discover their films from that age. Powered by TMDb. Built for cinema lovers who want to explore movies differently.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Alejandro, and I built Starage because I had a simple question: what was Tom Hanks doing at my age? That curiosity turned into this web app. The idea is simple but surprisingly addictive: enter your age, search for any actor, and discover the films they made when they were exactly your age. Some cool discoveries I've made: Meryl Streep at 30 was already doing Kramer vs. Kramer DiCaprio at 25 was in The Aviator Your favorite indie actor might have done their best work at your current age Technical bits: Built with TMDb API, focused heavily on UX (autocomplete, loading states, fallback to nearest films if no exact matches). UPDATE: Now you can also find out how old your favorite actors were when they acted in a film :-)

Implemented Changes

  1. Search type selector: Radio buttons to choose between "Actor" and "Film", located before the age field.

  2. Film search:

    • When selecting "Film", the placeholder changes to "Search for a film..."

    • Autocomplete for films as you type

    • When selecting a film, the main actors are displayed

  3. Display actors with ages:

    • When selecting a film, the top 10 actors are shown

    • Next to each actor appears the age they were when the film was released

    • The character they played is also shown
