StackGauge is a private macOS menu bar app for tracking AI usage, limits, resets, and spend. The first release supports Claude Code, showing your 5-hour and weekly usage, which limit is currently constraining you, when it resets, and what your usage is costing. StackGauge is being built as a multi-provider usage dashboard, with support for more AI coding providers coming next.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built StackGauge because AI coding tools have become part of my everyday workflow, but understanding their usage limits is still surprisingly difficult.
You can be deep into a coding session and suddenly hit a limit.
Then come the questions:
Which limit is actually blocking me?
How much usage do I have left?
When does it reset?
How much am I spending?
And eventually, as we use more than one AI provider: how do I keep track of all of this without checking several different dashboards?
That's what I'm building StackGauge for.
StackGauge puts AI usage directly in the Mac menu bar so you can understand your limits before they interrupt your work.
The first release starts with Claude Code and includes:
* 5-hour and weekly usage tracking
* The limit currently constraining you
* Reset times
* Estimated usage cost
* Optional exact billing data
* Usage history
* Model breakdowns
* Local-first, privacy-focused tracking
Claude Code is just the starting point.
The longer-term goal is for StackGauge to become one small place on your Mac where you can understand your usage across the AI tools you work with. Support for additional providers is coming next.
I'd especially love to hear from people using multiple AI coding tools:
Which provider should StackGauge support next?
And what usage information do you wish you could see at a glance?
Thanks for checking out StackGauge ❤️
