I'm a solo founder and I built Splitwell because I got tired of expense apps trying to monetize the most basic thing two friends need: knowing who owes what. Every app in this space eventually adds ads, subscription tiers, or "unlock this feature" walls. Splitting a dinner bill shouldn't come with a paywall.
There's no ads, No hidden monetization plan disguised as a feature roadmap. It's just a clean, fast tool that does one job well. This is best and free alternative of splitwise.
honestly this looks great, been waiting for something like this since splitwise started pushing the paywall. one thing that would make it perfect for me anyway is adding a small monthly summary you can drop into a group chat, like a quick recap of who owes what without everyone having to open the app. would save a lot of those awkward "hey who owes who again" texts in our trip group
