Split 1-2-3 is a fluid, mosaic-style macOS app for multi-image composition. Start with grid templates and break free from rigid alignments using independent horizontal or vertical split adjustments. Each interactive cell acts as a canvas—drag and drop photos, then scale, pan, and frame fractional slices inside a staggered geometric grid. Perfect for mood boards and graphic art, then export high-resolution compositions directly to disk.
Hello, Product Hunt! 👋
We've built Split 1-2-3 because standard photo grid apps enforce rigid, uniform columns and rows. We wanted a desktop application that allows each cell in a grid to breathe and move independently—creating fluid, architectural image mosaics.
💡 What is Split 1-2-3?
Split 1-2-3 is a macOS desktop app that lets you display and frame several to dozens of images simultaneously across interactive, customizable split-view layouts. Rather than locking you into a static grid, it allows fractional slicing and staggered geometric arrangements:
・ 📐 Fluid Layout Templates: Start with base templates (like 3×4 grids) powered by interactive split views.
・ 🔀 Independent Horizontal & Vertical Adjustments: Break free from rigid columns. Set Row 1, Cell 1 to a width of 150pt, while Row 2, Cell 1 stretches to 200pt.
・ 🖼️ Independent Canvas Cells: Drag-and-drop images directly into individual cells, then scale, pan, and reposition them precisely inside their frames.
・ 📸 High-Resolution Export: Dynamically frame fractional slices of multiple images and render the full composition to disk as a high-res graphic.
Whether you're building mood boards, abstract graphic art, or multi-photo comparisons, Split 1-2-3 gives you complete control over every seam and cell. We’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and suggestions for future layout features!

Love the mosaic approach and the ability to nudge individual cells. One thing that would make this a daily driver for me: let me save custom grid layouts as templates, with cell sizes and split angles intact, so I can reuse the same composition style across projects without rebuilding it each time.

Love the staggered grid idea, feels way more natural than fixed templates. One thing that would help me a lot: a way to lock aspect ratios for individual cells so I can drop in portrait photos without them getting awkwardly cropped or squished. Right now I keep nudging numbers manually and losing the rhythm.

One thing I'd love to see is the ability to save custom grid layouts as templates, so I can reuse my favorite staggered patterns across projects instead of rebuilding them each time.
