SparkReceipt receipt scanner and business document manager I am a one-man software developer and consultant. I have developed my own receipt scanning and document management solution (still missing some nice-to-have functionality but getting there). I felt that existing solutions were lacking for my needs in some of these departments: 1. Adding other essential documents beside receipts, like bank statements, travel invoices or shareholder meeting notes. Or whatever I need to share with my accountant on a monthly basis. 2. Easy way for me to invite my accountant directly to the app without the need to export files, generate PDFs or do some other hassle to share all documents and expense data. 3. Currency conversions - I deal with multiple currencies on a daily basis and regularly have invoices in EUR, USD or GBP for example. Either the apps don't provide this at all, or if they do, the currency conversion is done using today's rate and not the actual rate on the date of the expense. 4. Automatic data extraction usually only works with US formatted receipts. So the decimal separator must be "." and nothing else. This makes vast majority of scanners useless for me. 5. Many apps don't offer a web portal to manage the documents from the comfort of my laptop. And many that do, are quite heavyweight and expensive.
