SpareScreen turns any iPad, Android tablet, phone or old laptop into a wireless second display for your Mac. The other device just opens a link in its browser: no app, no cable, no account. Works with old iPads Sidecar doesn't support. Optional touch control, and you can mirror any of your Mac's screens too. Free for 7 days, then $7.99 once for lifetime access.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm Sarthak, and I built SpareScreen because I had an old tablet lying in a drawer and wanted a second screen for my Mac without buying a monitor.
Sidecar only works with newer iPads on your Apple ID, Duet is a subscription, and Luna needs a $90 dongle. I wanted something that works with whatever device you already have, for a one-time price.
How it works: SpareScreen creates a real extra display on your Mac and sends it over your Wi-Fi to the other device's browser. Open the link, click Allow on the Mac, and a screen appears in the device's exact shape. Close the page and your windows come home. Turn on touch control and you can tap, drag and scroll on the tablet too.
Honest limits: video and fast scrolling can stutter on slow Wi-Fi, and it installs through Homebrew because I haven't paid for Apple's notarization yet.
It's $7.99 once for lifetime access, free for 7 days. I'd love your feedback, especially on which devices you try it with.
