Does songcorder work on windows?

@royyy it works on Windows and Mac. Windows 10 and macOS 10.5 are officially supported. Keep in mind that in order to use it, you still need to have one of the compatible devices (though others may be supported as well but haven't been tested, including Lumin, Auralic, Esoteric, or TEAC).

How does this differ from plugging in a guitar or mic in a soundcard and then recording directly into a DAW?

@imannie with soundcards, you are limited to the quality of ADC in your soundcard. Even the best ones don't typically have the same quality as high-end audio equipment (see compatible devices on our landing page). Instead of relying on a PC with potentially noisy power supply, unstable clocking, and sub-optimal ADC, Songcorder relies on the components available in the high-end gear and captures the digital signal broadcast over Ethernet. So in short: Songcast does not even do the conversion, the high-end equipment does it. Songcorder allows to save this signal as hi-res FLAC to enjoy later.
