I wanted to know which month I could actually hand in my notice, not just how long my money lasts after I’ve already jumped. Every runway calculator I tried answered the second question, so I built one for the first.
It takes the salary you’d give up and the share of income from your biggest client. The headline answer is the earliest month you could quit and still never dip below your own safety buffer after that client leaves. The flattering month where nothing goes wrong is on screen too, so you can see what the optimism is worth.
Two things are deliberately uncomfortable: income growth defaults to 1%/month, and the example the page opens with doesn’t pass. I’d rather it be useful than impressive.
Free, no signup, nothing you type is sent anywhere. I’d genuinely like to know which number you don’t believe.
Full disclosure: the code and copy were written by an AI agent I run and direct. I set the problem, chose who it’s for, and reviewed the model, pushing for the fixes that changed its answer. The quit month used to assume you keep every client, and growth used to default to something flattering. The maths is one readable file, so please check it rather than take my word for it.
