Solidified Remains

A new form of human and pet remains

3 followers

Ashes can feel messy and meaningless. Parting Stone developed a new form of human and pet remains called solidified remains. Instead of receiving a box of ashes, you can now receive a collection of stones. Stones let you feel connection with remains.

What do you think? …

Seconding the comment regarding your language. I don't think ashes are "gross and meaningless" at all. The challenge you face with ashes is that they aren't aesthetically pleasing and you wouldn't want to directly contact them. Holding an urn is different than holding the remains of a loved one directly. I can't say I see hugely widespread adoption of this, but it's a nice alternative and wish it success. Edit: Updated days later, they changed the word "gross" to "messy". I personally think this is a lazy edit and the Solidified Remains team would benefit from hiring a more professional and empathetic copywriter. This does not change my views on the service itself.

@chris_germano Thanks for your comments! Everyone has a different experience and relationship with cremated remains. Many of our customers mention that the remains have started to feel meaningless sitting in their closets. Our goal is to allow people to feel more connection with the remains of their loved ones.

Why are there some screws in the pictured ashes?

@alex_salmon Medical implants?
Justin Crowe
@alex_salmon the fist step in our process is to remove contaminants from the remains. We often remove medical screws and staples. The metals pictured were filtered out of human remains in our lab.

Hey PH-ers!! So excited for my brother's launch of Parting Stone, a new form of human and pet remains. Turn your ashes into stones :)

Interesting concept

Love this idea but agree with the rest of the commenters, you can't call the remains of a loved one "gross" or "meaningless", the output (ashes) may be better served with your solution, but it's still the remains of a loved one, so it feels very brash.

This product should've gotten many encouraging comments, but the copy NEEDS to be updated. Even if people feel they're "gross", they have an emotional attachment with it. An analogy: even if you hate your little annoying sister, and fight with her constantly, you don't want anyone else to fight her.
