Hey Product Hunt, I’m Ali, the maker of SmoothyEdit.
SmoothyEdit brings useful editing tools into one free desktop app connected to Premiere Pro. The goal is simple: make repetitive editing work easier and keep more of the workflow close to your timeline.
The released app includes:
• Local captions with editable text and timing, plus SRT export.
• Silence removal with adjustable thresholds.
• Multicam switching based on who’s speaking. It works on a duplicate timeline and remains in beta.
• Video compression and SVG/image conversion for graphics.
• Stock footage search across Pixabay, Wikimedia Commons, Internet Archive and NASA.
• Music previews, Favorites and Staff picks from an unofficial YouTube Audio Library archive. Check each track’s original license and required credit before publishing.
The desktop tools are free and open source, with no SmoothyEdit account needed. Captions, silence removal, multicam, compression and graphics run locally. Online libraries need an internet connection. Premiere Pro is required for the Premiere integration.
Studio is an optional cloud add-on, free to start, with Pro at $5/month and 2,000 credits every 30 days. It suggests ideas and can send Shorts markers to your timeline; you choose the moments, make the cuts and export the video.
Paid AI features are optional; you do not need them to use the free desktop tools. The upcoming v2 adds a Settings toggle to hide all Studio AI features, including Shorts and AI Photos.
SmoothyEdit 1.5.1 is available for Apple Silicon Macs and Windows x64. I’d love to hear which repetitive task costs you the most time in Premiere, and what you’d like SmoothyEdit to help with next.
