After UPI became widely adopted in India, I found myself making a lot of micro-transactions, frequent payments that quickly added up but were hard to track. I realized I was losing visibility on where my money was going. I tried various budgeting apps, but none felt built for this new pattern of digital spending. So I built SmartWallet - a budgeting app designed around the concept of micro wallets. Most budgeting apps give you a broad overview of expenses or link to your bank account to track spending automatically. While that works for some, it does not address the real-time awareness needed for micro-spending, especially with UPI and mobile-first payments. SmartWallet introduces a fresh approach: - Create multiple micro wallets by category(Food, Commute, Grocery, etc.) - Assign individual budgets to each wallet. - Track transactions for each wallet. - Get notified when you're about to exceed the budget. It's lightweight, minimal, privacy-focused, and does not require bank access - ideal for people who want hands-on control over their daily spending. I'm proud that I turned a personal frustration into a real product - designed, built, and launched independently. What started as a simple idea to fix my own budget habits is now a live tool that can help others regain control over their micro-spending.
