A scrolling window manager for macOS, inspired by niri and PaperWM. Every window is a column on an endless strip: windows keep their size, and you swipe with four fingers to move between them. Stacks, tabs, pinning, multiple displays, remappable shortcuts. Native, tiny, free and open source.

Hi Product Hunt 👋
I built SlideScroll because I wanted niri's scrolling window layout on my Mac.
Most tiling window managers divide your screen into smaller and smaller tiles. SlideScroll works differently.
Every window is a column on a horizontal strip that extends beyond your screen. Windows keep the width you give them. When you open a new window, it slides in beside the current one without resizing the others.
You can move through the strip with a three- or four-finger trackpad swipe, keyboard shortcuts, or by clicking or Cmd-Tabbing to a window. Swipes follow your fingers, then the strip snaps to the nearest column.
Other features:
Stack multiple windows vertically or use tabbed columns.
Pin a column to the left or right edge.
Give each display its own independent strip.
Resize, reorder, and move windows with your mouse or keyboard.
Set custom shortcuts, window gaps, and apps that always float.
Restore all windows to the screen when you quit, pause, or if the app crashes.
Automatic updates, with an option to turn off update checks.
A few technical details:
Written in Swift, with a native AppKit menu bar app, SwiftUI settings, and a Swift layout engine. No Electron or web views.
Uses the macOS Accessibility API to manage windows.
Reads trackpad gestures through Apple's private MultitouchSupport framework, loaded with dlopen.
Uses spring-based animations and per-app command queues, so a slow app does not block other windows.
Requires only Accessibility permission. No Screen Recording, Input Monitoring, or disabling SIP.
No telemetry, analytics, or accounts. Everything stays local, apart from optional GitHub update checks.
Current limitations: Apple Silicon only, macOS 13+. SlideScroll currently manages the active Space, leaving other Spaces and full-screen apps alone. The app is not notarized yet, so manual installation requires approval through macOS Privacy & Security.
SlideScroll is free, open source, and MIT licensed.
It's still an early project, and I'd love your feedback, especially from niri and PaperWM users. Let me know what works, what feels off, and what you'd like to see next.
