SlickStack

SlickStack was super easy to use and was exactly what I needed when creating a client's WordPress server. Setup was relatively simple, and everything is well-documented so the process is a piece of cake.

After using SlickStack, I feel like a superstar. This script takes care of many areas that will take 10s of hours, if done manually, such as installation (nginx, php, certificates, sftp), security hardening (locking down ssh, root login, closing ports) and configuration of Nginx. If you want to impress your WP clients on how fast you can install WP servers securely, then use this script, otherwise, STILL use this script, it is just that good!! The community and Jesse in particular is helpful and can answer any question relating to issues that you may pick up. Jesse's vision of keeping web development open to all and away from the tech giants is admirable and can be seen in his willingness to invest his own time in developing and maintaining SlickStack. If you want to learn about WordPress than you have to start by installing it with this SlickStack.

I began using SlickStack about a year ago and it has been amazing. It is fast and extremely secure. Jesse is a pleasure to work with and is quick to reach out when needed. I am thrilled what SlickStack has done for my blog and recommend it highly.

I'm a total novice, and I can with a little effort, build SlickStack WP servers. I've gone from using shared hosting to building servers on DO for years to building really fast and secure WP servers with SlickStack. Easy to build a server in about fifteen minutes. The community is becoming really strong. Jesse answers all questions and is gracious to respond to requests for help. Highly recommend!

Slickstack is the natural path moving away from managed hosting. When you want to move to your own Virtual Private Server (VPS) and to be in control with a minimum of overhead than Slickstack is one of the strongest candidates. Yes, one will need to sharpen a little bit his terminal skills but this should be generally for the better when you are already here... or? Otherwise everything is documented in the scripts and the community support is great.
