Self-hosted with real end-to-end encryption out of the box is a refreshing take. Messenger and social network in one package could be a real win for people tired of juggling apps. Curious how stable the video calls are since it's still in beta.
Finally spun up SkyCitadel on my own server and the client-side encryption feels rock solid. Messenger video calls worked surprisingly well on my home network, though I did notice a tiny lag when toggling between chat and call windows.
