SkillSwap turns shared hobbies into real connections. đ¤ Reciprocal Matching: You can connect based on what you teach AND learnâeveryone is both a student and a mentor. đ Local Activities: Our standout feature! Join real-world skill sessions directly from maps (e.g., park yoga, coding meetups) to enjoy hobbies with like-minded people. đ Social Learning: Share 24h skill stories ("Waves") and chat instantly to connect over shared passions. Connect, learn, and enjoy your passions together!

I still remember trying to learn guitar last year. I watched hours of YouTube tutorials, but I felt completely isolated. I didn't need another course; I needed a jam partner. Thatâs when it hit me: weâve turned skills into commodities to buy, instead of bridges to connect us.
We built SkillSwap to fix that. We started with simple matching, but realized people needed more context to trust each other. That evolved into Waves (to show your journey) and Safe Activities (to meet in the real world).
Iâd love to know:
Whatâs one skill youâve always wanted to learn but gave up on?
Do you prefer learning online or face-to-face?
What feature would make you trust a stranger enough to meet up for a skill swap?

Iâve always loved running, but last year I hit a point where running alone started to feel⌠empty. I wanted accountability, someone to pace with, someone whoâd say âletâs goâ on the days I didnât want to move. I tried joining online fitness groups, downloaded apps, even watched running tips on YouTube, but none of it gave me people. What I really needed wasnât another plan or tutorial⌠I needed a running buddy.
And thatâs exactly why SkillSwap feels personal to me. Skills shouldnât isolate us , they should bring us together. Running, cooking, guitar, coding⌠everything is more meaningful when shared with someone on the same journey. We built SkillSwap to make that possible. Simple matching wasnât enough, so we created Waves to show your real progress and Safe Activities to make meeting in the real world feel natural and safe.
Now Iâm curious: Whatâs one thing youâve always wanted to do with someone run, paint, learn music, cook, dance? And what would make you comfortable enough to meet a stranger who shares your passion? Let me know your answer might shape the next feature we build. đââď¸đ

As one of the co-founders, the feature Iâm personally most excited about is our real-time activity map. Even in these early days, watching the map light up as people join, add their skills, and explore nearby swaps feels surreal.
Weâre still at the very beginning â building our community from the ground up â but the vision is simple:
let people teach what they know, learn what they want, and connect in a natural, social way.
SkillSwap is designed so the whole experience feels:
friendly
real-world
map-driven
and fun instead of formal
Right now, weâre focused on refining the matching, polishing the interface, and shaping the platform through feedback from early users.
If you're here checking us out â thank you. Your feedback genuinely helps us build SkillSwap in the right direction đ
