Why I built it
My skills folder kept growing, and at some point I realized I couldn't tell whether a given skill ever fired ā or what any of it cost. Nothing showed which skills get called, how often, or how many tokens they take. So I built SkillKeeper to find out.
What it is
A menu bar app that reads your local sessions and breaks usage down by everything your setup loads ā skills, agents, tools, MCP servers, commands, memory files, hooks and plugins ā by 5 hours, day, week or month, with live token counts while a session runs. Agents show the skills they call inside, so you can see how your setup is actually wired.
What surprised me
Once SkillKeeper started tracking hooks, I found one from a tool I'd tried once and forgotten about. It fired on every step and held up my work for 42 minutes over three weeks. Then the tokens: 94% of them went to work where none of my skills were involved ā even though my skills are where the best of my instructions live. I wasn't using my own setup the way I thought I was, and nothing showed it. SkillKeeper puts all of it on one screen.
Privacy
Everything is read from local files on your Mac and never uploaded. The app sends anonymous usage events ā which views get opened, how many skills were found ā never skill names, prompts or file contents.
