SitWatcher is a macOS menu bar break reminder for people who get lost in focused work. It starts with a gentle floating prompt, pauses automatically when you leave your desk, and can escalate to a full-screen break reminder when ignored. Customize the timing, themes, and animated characters to make movement breaks easier to keep.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Aaron, the maker of SitWatcher.
I built SitWatcher because I often get lost in coding and focused work, then realize that I’ve been sitting for hours. Regular notifications were too easy to dismiss, so I made a reminder that can become more persistent when ignored.
SitWatcher:
• Starts with a gentle floating break reminder
• Can escalate to a full-screen reminder
• Pauses automatically when you leave your desk
• Lets you customize intervals, themes, and reminder characters
• Runs quietly in the macOS menu bar
It’s designed for developers, designers, students, and remote workers who spend long sessions at a Mac.
SitWatcher supports macOS 14 and later. It is available on the Mac App Store, and the project is also open source.
I’d love your feedback:
1. Does the full-screen escalation feel helpful or too aggressive?
2. Which reminder character would you actually keep using?
Thanks for checking it out!
