Simpla is a modular frontend content framework built on Web Components. Create dynamic content with HTML, edit it inline, and manipulate it over a JSON API.
@georgeholeva not exactly - Optimizely (AFAIK) is just a visual editor for HTML, similar to website builders like Wix and Weebly. This is really dangerous in production because it means any content editor can potentially 'edit', and break, any part of your site. With Simpla only the _content_ of inside the tags is editable. For example the text inside simpla-text or the src of simpla-img. So end-users still have the super intuitive interface, but developers can sleep at night as well knowing their stuff wont blow up.

@seaneking@georgeholeva Trying to get my head around the pricing side of things, super interesting concept by the way. So am I able to host this myself or do I need to pay the monthly fee to use this on an on going basis? e.g For 80k api requests, if there are 20 pieces of editable content on a given page, does that mean 4000 page impressions / month?.
@sicnarftea sorry only just saw this - right now there isn't a way to self-host Simpla's backend (you can self-host the library, but still have to talk to our API). We do hope to open-source a simple single-project API that you could self-host in future, but no ETA on that atm.
And yes that's how the API request limits work. We're continually iterating on pricing to find the sweet spots. Let me know if you have any thoughts on limits would constitute 'testing and development' or a 'small professional project' for yourself :-)

@seaneking This type of framework really fits into my client base of DIY small business owners / marketers. I think main issue is that for these users, it might be hard to wrap their head around how many api calls they'll make.
Thanks @gregstone14! Works fine with PHP - as Simpla is entirely frontend, it'll work with any backend language / framework / stack. It's all in the browser so all your backend code needs to do is write out Simpla HTML tags :)

Really exciting to see this up and going. Expecting big things here.

Looks very promising, congrats guys! Maybe just work a bit more on Getting Started docs :)
Thanks @chrisdevq, and yes, definitely! We're currently doing an overhaul of our docs, particularl Getting Started. It should make it a lot clearer on how to get started on a project with Simpla. Thanks for the feedback :)
