Simpla is a modular frontend content framework built on Web Components. Create dynamic content with HTML, edit it inline, and manipulate it over a JSON API.

Currently working on moving a project off WordPress and onto plain HTML/CSS. The head of marketing was initially scared she wouldn't be able to make any changes to the site, given she is not technical, but I showed her how I'd integrated Simpla, and she loved it.
This is how web development should be – no CMS bloat, and no 'visual composers' that easily break things. I write the code, someone else comes up with the content 😉
Well done team!
This is a very nice idea, I think this will do well. I love the simplicity!
Some questions:
- how does this impact on site speed. Having to call api's for content. This is my main worry about using this.
- do you have or plan to include a/b testing and statistics.
@davidsthinking Perf is currently pretty good, certainly ready for production. All content is served through a global CDN over HTTP/2, so the extra API calls don't have an impact on site speed. There is a small bottleneck with the library itself, which needs to be further optimised. We have a few ideas around this, and will be sharing updates soon!
Re: a/b testing - you can already do this by using something like Optimizely to change Simpla content IDs with Javascript. We'll write up a tutorial on the blog in the coming weeks :-)

@seaneking is exaclty what I was thinking and also for the part where you speak about Optimizely .
We have used Simpla for a few client projects at Human Design. It has made the development process much quicker. In addition, our clients are actually updating their own content now. Wordpress and Squarespace have always had a steep learning curve for our clients. Simpla is easy for our clients to use and has really empowered them to update their own content. We will continue to use Simpla as our CMS replacement.
Thanks @iammattnull - it's great to have you on board, and it's fantastic to hear you're getting so much value out of Simpla :)

If I understand it's set of widgets that allow you to be edited on a page. So frontend CMS. What about SEO? In theory google renders page while indexing... but google is not the only one and it's still theory.

Simpla is a really well thought out, really well coded solution. Sean was very good at getting back to me with my questions when I tried it and its definitely a solution that I can see being a good fit in many cases. Good luck on PH today and in the future.
