What do you think? …

Hey everyone, Jay here, and got a few members of the team with us for the launch. We built Sikr because we (a) were annoyed with how many events we never found out about due to Facebook's algorithm, and (b) how many events we ended up missing due to the way notifications worked. There's a lot of depth to Sikr that one might miss on the surface. Happy to share with you if you want to come talk to us on the AMA. We're hanging out here: https://app.usebench.com/KIJB9WXYM (open on desktop chrome or firefox to chat to us). BONUS: everyone who signs up today will automatically get 50% off of Sikr Premium, if you want to upgrade. There is no need to upgrade, you get unlimited free private events, and one free public event each month. If you want more and you're a bit of a hustler, premium is just $7 per month (usually). Reach out if you have any questions.

If I was travelling again this is exactly the sort of app I would use. Last time I used herepin and the experience was great, and this app looks better than that.

Pros:

Loved the interface and the concept.

Cons:

Not personally after another app.

Jay Scott
Thanks @nathan_frater.

Pros:

While travelling Ive found Sikr to be unparalleled, being in a new city it finds inspiration in places I'd never have thought to look!

Cons:

Would be great if it synced with my socials/calendars

Jay Scott
Awesome feedback. We are working on a google calendar integration, which should be around soon. But you can actually see your calendar inside the app: What do you think?
Aaron Zimmerman
We will for sure be syncing with your socials / calendars in the near future!

Pros: Found an interesting local event within about 5 minutes of signing up. Seems to have a fairly diverse set of events. Cons: When you hit back after looking at an event, the list reloads completely from the beginning. Loading can take a while and sometimes nothing loads. I think this would be quite useful. I usually check out a local blogs list of events, but they're more large scale. Would love to see some better filter controls. I'm interested in family friendly/kids events, but if I turn off "fundraisers" does that remove family friendly events? I think larger filter buckets might be better (Family, Nightlife, Music, Arts, Tech).
Jay Scott
@mike_freeman that is awesome feedback. Your first experience of finding an interesting event is really awesome, it seems to happen all the time. That might event be the core value proposition of Sikr :D The way we bring together events (from lots of sources) means we have a huge amount of data and we can't store it (just yet) so with some more forward momentum we'll get to working on that problem. Filtering will also come in better soon. Thanks so much for checking Sikr out.
Jay Scott
Awesome words of encouragement @debsh. Thank for the awesome feedback before launch!
