SideCli is a lightweight native terminal for macOS built to stay out of your way. 100% free to use. Its main feature is edge-snapping: move your mouse to the screen edge and the terminal instantly slides out; move away and it hides again. No hotkeys, no window juggling, no clutter. Supports multi-monitor setups, pin mode, tabs, split panes, dark/light themes, and more — all in a ~3MB open-source app built with xterm.js.

Hey PH! 👋 Thanks for checking out SideCli.
This project started as a personal “scratch my own itch” tool. I got tired of constantly switching terminal windows during development, but most alternatives either felt too minimal or tried to become full-blown developer platforms packed with AI chat, plugins, dashboards, and features I rarely used.
I didn’t want a terminal that acts like an IDE.
I just wanted one that stays nearby, appears instantly when needed, and disappears when not.
That idea eventually became SideCli.
✨ Main features:
* Edge-snap auto show/hide
* Left/right screen edge support
* Multi-monitor support
* Pin mode for always-visible windows
* Multiple tabs + dual-pane layout
* Resizable window
* Light & dark themes
* Built-in common shortcuts
Built with xterm.js.
No accounts, no telemetry, no subscriptions.
The app is only ~3MB+ after unzip.
The downloadable app and the open-source version are almost identical, so if something bothers you, feel free to tweak it or open a PR 🙌
If SideCli saves you even a few alt-tabs a day, a ⭐ on GitHub would mean a lot for a solo project.
Happy to chat in the comments!
