AI Sidebar with Skills, MCP Tools & Multi-Model Support. SideAgent is an open-source Chrome extension that brings context-aware AI to your browser. It supports the Agent Skills standard, connects to local tools via MCP, and runs with your own API keys (OpenAI, DeepSeek, Ollama) for complete privacy.

👋 Hello Product Hunt! I'm the maker of SideAgent. I built this because I wanted a browser assistant that was truly extensible and private. Most sidebars are black boxes—SideAgent is open source and local-first. Key features I'm excited to share: ⚡ Agent Skills: Import standardized `.md` skills to teach the AI specific workflows (like code review or legal analysis). 🔌 MCP Support: Connect it to your local file system or database using the Model Context Protocol. 🏠 Local Models: Full support for Ollama—run Llama 3 entirely on your machine. It's free and open source. I'd love to hear your feedback on the Skills system! 🔗 GitHub: https://github.com/murumury/an-a...

Prompt folders in sidebars always rot for me, nobody remembers what to run when. SideAgent auto-activating SKILL.md plus MCP servers feels super practical, and keeping keys in chrome.storage.local is a nice touch. A per-skill tool preview and allowlist would keep the power without surprises.
