hey PH! 👋
I'm Daniel. A few months ago, I wanted to launch a new project. I grabbed a popular SaaS boilerplate, expecting to start building my product right away.
Instead, I spent the first couple of days fixing broken TypeScript types, resolving linter errors, and removing packages I didn't actually need.
Then I discovered the license restricted client work.
Between outdated dependencies, restrictive licensing, and custom authentication wrappers that are difficult to audit, I realized I wanted a cleaner foundation.
So I started working on ShipFast.
It's a lightweight Next.js starter kit focused on getting out of your way, with modern defaults, a flexible license, and only the essentials you actually need.
Here's what's included:
* ✅ Flexible licensing: Build your own SaaS, internal tools, or client projects without worrying about licensing restrictions. * 🚀 Modern stack: Built with Next.js 16, React 19, and TypeScript. * 🎨 Base UI from day one: Modern UI primitives that are ready for today's React ecosystem. * 🔐 Official Clerk authentication: Secure authentication and native multi-tenancy powered by Clerk's official implementation, no custom auth wrappers to maintain or audit. * 🗄️ Drizzle ORM: A clean, type-safe database layer. * 📚 Lean core + practical docs: Instead of including every possible integration, ShiftFast provides documentation for email, analytics, background jobs, payments, and more so you can choose the tools that fit your project. * 🤝 Built for teams: Organization switching and multi-tenant architecture are supported from day one. * 🤖 AI-ready: Includes optimized `.cursorrules` and `CLAUDE.md` so AI coding assistants understand your project structure immediately.
🎯 Why I built it
I think the most exciting part of a new project should be building your product, not spending days untangling your starter kit.
ShiftFast is the clean, dependable starting point I wish I'd had a few months ago.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, and I'm happy to answer any questions about the architecture or the stack!
