Hello Cleveland! Err, I mean - Product Hunt 👋 I'm Mark, and I'm the "one man band" behind Setlist. I've been writing code for about 40 years (I'm a Sinclair ZX Spectrum OG) and running my own online projects for over 25. Setlist started for what is a very common reason - my covers band couldn't keep track of anything! Song ideas got lost, nobody could remember how many times we'd agreed to repeat a last chorus, and "can everyone make the 14th?" took days and a group chat to answer. If you've ever tried organising a bunch of musos, you know... It was also a great excuse to get back into my "first love" Ruby on Rails after years away, which turned out to be the most fun I've had coding in a long time. HN front page when it was published 😃 Aside from the enjoyment of the technical side of things (and genuinely helping my band run a lot more smoothly) the best part of Setlist has been the unexpected contacts and community I've ended up building. Bands email me with bug reports, suggestions and feature requests (some really great ideas like the "smart" Auto Setlists feature only exist because someone asked for it), and then I'll see photos of them on stage at a gig they organized with the app. That never gets old! It's free and it'll stay free. I pay the hosting out of my own pocket, there are no ads, no subscriptions, nothing sold to anybody, and you can export all your data whenever you like. It's a labour of love, and charging for it would turn it into an obligation. So, if you're in a band, give it a shot! I'd love to know how you find it and what I could do to make it better - I read and reply to everything.
