Sequential

Project management, but with network diagrams (and AI)

Sequential is a project management tool explicitly built on the concept of a directed graph (aka network diagram). This approach is inspired by the PERT and CPM methods pioneered in the early 1950s, and helps visualise key project attributes and statistics.

Hey everyone! Excited to share a project I have been working on for a little while now, which takes a somewhat novel approach to project management and modelling work. I have always been a big fan of directed graphs, and after a particularly bad day of fighting against a Gantt chart, I was left feeling that there had to be a better way to think about organising large, complex projects with lots of dependencies and work streams. I stubbornly decided to build my own tool that would allow me to model work in a way that felt more natural, and is inspired by the CPM and PERT methods (famously employed by the US Navy in their Polaris Project to deliver nuclear submarines). Sequential is the result! I've been adding features slowly, but it is now at the point where I rely on it as my daily driver for tracking and managing my work, so it felt like the right time to share. Would love to hear what you guys think! My own favourite feature is the whiteboard assistant – having such a low-friction way to capture tasks and dependencies has already made me far more reliable in my day job.

Sequential seems like a dream come true for us perfectionists and those who thrive on order and structure! And I'm particularly curious about the whiteboard assistant—how does it simplify the process of plotting out tasks and their interconnections?
