SelfieStory: Picture Everyday

How does it handle alignment for photos taken in different lighting or settings? Also, any plans to integrate with other apps for automatic photo imports or backups? Excited to see how this helps people document their journeys!

@tonyabracadabra Thank you so much for the thoughtful questions and support! 😄 SelfieStory's alignment system has been trained in a variety of conditions, and it’s super accurate in almost every scenario I’ve tested, including variable lighting and face locations. A lot of my pictures have been taken in dark environments or even with my hair covering my eyes or sunglasses on, and SelfieStory still aligns them accurately and beautifully. In my experience (and my beta testers’ too), it only struggles when faces are literally half-cropped at the edge of the image—but honestly, who wants to use those pics anyway? 😂 I absolutely love your idea about integrating with other apps for backups! For now, I’ve made it super easy to import photos directly from your gallery into SelfieStory, where they’re automatically aligned for a seamless experience. This lets people who already take a selfie every day continue their journeys in the app or gives new users a way to start their SelfieStory with a bit of a head start! Looking ahead, I have a long-term vision of SelfieStory being integrated into platforms like Google Photos (think recap sections) or even native photo apps. Imagine giving anyone a video of their growth, created from the photos they already have—that's something I'm genuinely so excited about! On top of that, users can back up their photos to the camera roll anytime, and there’s even a setting to save photos to the camera roll as they’re taken in the app. This way, you’re always in control of your data. @zhiqi_shi Thank you so much! I would absolutely love to see everyone’s 2025 SelfieStory - I think it's a perfect New Year’s resolution to take one selfie every day. I personally started mine on January 1, 2023, and it’s been an incredible journey filled with so many memories. I’m so happy that SelfieStory now makes it easy for anyone to start their own with a low barrier to entry. I’m especially excited to see these stories shared on TikTok and Shorts - it’s going to be so inspiring to watch how people grow throughout the year :)

@rai_rezende Thank you so much for downloading and for your kind words! I’m really sorry you’re running into that bug. I’m working on a fix right now and will update the app ASAP. In the meantime, could you check if camera permissions are set to allow? If they are, try exiting the app and re-entering—it might solve the issue temporarily. I really appreciate your patience!

@rohil_ag I allowed what the app asked for, yes. I tried again now and this time I could go to the capture screen, but again nothing worked, not even the icons animations

@rai_rezende @rohil_ag Same problem. Hopefully it will get the update soon! Btw, can you build the app for lower iOS version. I'm using 16.1 on my iPhone. So, I have only one choice using it on my iPad. I just don't want to update my iPhone into higher iOS version :(

@renchu_song Hey Richard, thank you so much for your words! I've saved so much time myself with auto-aligning photos and I'm so excited that now everyone can take advantage of it! I have had the idea of adding filters/editing tools to enhance the daily selfies. However, I also feel like adding these features might take away from the raw and authentic feel that SelfieStory aims for. That's also why I've thus far not added generative AI to fill in the black spaces on the edges of the aligned photos. But I'm all ears - What do you think? Would that change the experience for you?
