For a lot of people that's fine. For me it started to feel wrong in the body: a life that looked full and was somehow empty. I kept meeting others who felt the same and were quietly trying to step off toward something more connected - intentional communities, ecovillages, cohousing - but getting lost the moment they tried to actually find one. The problem isn't a lack of listings. There are big directories with hundreds of communities. The problem is that browsing a directory alone is overwhelming, half the listings are stale, and you have no idea which places are actually open, still active, or a real fit for you. People would open a map of 500 communities, feel the weight of it, and close the tab. Stepping off the track is scary enough without landing badly. So seeking.community isn't another directory. It's a free, human matchmaker. You tell us - in your own words, in a conversation, not a form - what you're stepping away from and the life you're stepping toward. Then a real person reads it by hand and points you toward a short set of communities that are real, open, and genuinely fit you. Within 24 hours. The biggest thing that changed while building it: I started out thinking this was a matching-algorithm problem and ended up convinced it's a trust problem. The 24-hour response time is genuinely cool, but it would be super helpful if you could save or shortlist communities to revisit later. Right now I am worried about losing the recommendations in my inbox, especially if I am also comparing notes with friends or family about which place might fit.
