SeeBoop started from a small, annoying observation: the phone sitting dead in a desk drawer has a better camera, mic, speaker, and chip than most dedicated pet monitors, and most houses have two or three of them. Not to mention an older, but still useful computer, laptop or tablet. Might they be repurposed?
Two convictions shaped everything.
First: "Sound detected" is a useless alert.
Every monitor in this category listens for generic noise, or at best, barks. SeeBoop runs a classifier on the Station device itself that tells barks, meows, and crashes apart, and when the model isn't confident, it says "Sound detected" rather than guessing. Cats exist. Most of the category forgot.
Second: the scariest failure isn't a dropped frame: it's a frozen one.
An image that looks live while your dog has actually been alone for six hours. So honest status is the product: live, reconnecting, or offline, always labeled, plus a push if the Station goes dark and a battery warning at 20% before it dies. Every reliability feature is free, because that part shouldn't sit behind a paywall.
